On January 12, 1995, Led Zeppelin was inducted into the United States Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2005, the band received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. That same year, readers of Guitar World magazine voted the guitar solo from Stairway to Heaven the best rock guitar solo of all time. In November 2006, Led Zeppelin was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame.
Earlier this month, a 24-track best-of album titled Mothership was released, along with a new DVD. On November 8, XM Satellite Radio launched XM LED, the network's first artist-exclusive channel dedicated to the band. Five days later, its complete works were available for legal download online.
As the world waits for more of Led Zeppelin, the undeniable truth of something the band once proclaimed warrants repetition: 'The song remains the same.'
