Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Corpse Bride rocked. But The Nightmare Before Christmas rules.
Tim Burton's stop-motion, gothic, musical extravaganza has so many ingenious characters, you need extra fingers to count.
What makes Jack Skellington make so awesome is, not just his skull-face, hollow eyes, pinstriped coat, but his sheer exuberance and enthusiasm to try something new and blindly throw himself into the unknown. Also, he's thankfully not into the Prince-in-tights-and-cape-riding- a-horse-rescuing-a-Princess business.
Instead, his experiments with Christmas are a bummer, making the Pumpkin King realise he's better off orchestrating Halloween. Dark but witty, this is vintage Burton.
The film's 3-D version is all set for a re-release in October this year. Bad dreams, everyone!
