My big, fat filmi wedding

Soon, actors drift inside and are promptly led to well-cushioned and prominently arranged seating.

In a flash, the media swarms around the heavily made-up stars. When Akanksha Rawat, the show's heroine, enters the room, the reporters clamour over one another in frenzy, all trying to get to her first.

A procession of pairs, one cameraman and one interviewer each, files past the actors and asks a standard set of questions and receives standard responses. I am one of them too.

I begin with Mrinal Kulkarni, who plays Akanksha Rawat's mother.

"It feels very, very great to be a part of such an important programme," she gushes. "Widows have it so rough in India, especially in villages, and we just want to have a positive impact on the situation. It's very admirable for our producers to organise such an event. Most of the time, these celebrations are just about drinking and dancing."

I receive similar responses as I move down the line.
