Director Saran is well known for his action movies. He started his own production house, Gemini Productions after the stupendous success of Gemini. Though his last film Idhaya Thirudan with Jeyam Ravi was not a success, Vattaram is expected to do well.

Starring Arya and two new heroines, Keerat and Adisaya, the film is targeted at the youngsters who enjoy romantic action films. Vattaram is Arya's next film after his highly successful Pattiyal.
