2. Jungle Book
Disney veteran Wolfgang Reitherman's crowning gem came in 1967, with the last film personally supervised by Walt Disney himself.
Walt Disney ordered animators to quit reading Rudyard Kipling's novel as the resultant storyboards were too dark and foreboding.
The eventual film was anything but, emerging a superb family musical that remains flawless four decades on.
It was a key project for the Disney studio, and Walt passed away during its production. A failure would likely have meant the studio close down. The film, of course, was a rousing, historical success.
As to the four vultures resembling the Beatles, the Fab Four were actually scheduled to voice the birds but scheduling changes made it impossible. The fact that they unfailingly resemble John (the bald vulture), Paul (the blonde one), George (the brown one) and Ringo (the long-haired one) is a little Disney tribute.
