Lost and Desperate Housewives may be huge in India, but they haven't impressed critics in America this year. The Emmy shortlists are out, and the shows -- both big winners last year -- are not mentioned in the Best Series categories.
The most nominated show is a mini-series called Into the West, with 16 mentions.
The nominations were announced at an early ceremony in Los Angeles by former Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Everybody Loves Raymond actor Brad Garrett.
Among the top candidates are Thriller 24 and Grey's Anatomy. The former show, starring actor Keifer Sutherland, has 12 nominations, including one for Best Drama Series. Grey's Anatomy has been short listed in 11 categories. The Sopranos, House, and The West Wing have also been nominated for Best Drama, while the US version of the UK series The Office has picked up a Best Comedy nomination.
Finally, sitcom Will and Grace, which came to an end earlier this year in the US, is up for 10 awards.
The Emmy Awards are scheduled to air on August 27.
