Zach Braff - Scrubs
Best Actor in a TV Series - Musical/Comedy
So Zach's got a mantelpiece full of awards -- his Garden State netted him all kinds of cool festival plaudits, and threw in a soundtrack Grammy -- but he's never been honoured for the comedy where we discovered him. Scrubs continues to be the funnest medical show since M*A*S*H, and Braff deserves his due.
Who else is there: It's not a cakewalk, though. Also in the running are inimitable Seinfeld creator Larry David for Curb Your Enthusiasm, the supercool Jason Lee for the fresh My Name Is Earl, and Charlie Sheen 'cause he rocked Two And A Half Men. Unfortunately, the one primed to win is Steve Carell for the poorly written US version of iconic British comedy The Office, largely because he starred in The 40-year-old Virgin and is now a familiar face. Please, you folks at the Globe, anyone but Steve.
