It's true. This is indeed a Brett Ratner film.

But the After The Sunset director notwithstanding, this is a rare comic book franchise that has pleased purists and newcomers alike, with a wonderfully self-sufficient ensemble cast gradually gaining in strength.

Hugh Jackman, as Wolverine, will obviously be the hero of the film, and he has enough box-office force to support the film on his nine inch nails.

More fun is the inspired casting choice of Frasier star Kelsey Grammer as the most articulate mutant of them all, Beast.

Let's hope 3 works.
