Remembering Dilipsaab's Babul
Music composer Naushad only produced three films in his lifetime, one of which was Babul. That and Uran Khatola had Dilip Kumar as the main lead. The third, Maalik, starred Talat Mahmood.
Naushad's decline paralleled Kumar's professional slump, since most of his songs were for the legendary actor.
There were 11 songs in Babul, 3 of which were very popular: The vidai (parting) song Chhod babul ka ghar, love song Nadi kinare, and the lament Duniya badal gayee.
