Asin: I'm not a party person
August 8, 2006
Let's talk about Pokiri. Why did you accept the role, considering it is a remake of a successful film, with someone else having done the role before?
I like the role and the film, which is an entertainer. I was in the project
because I wanted to. It is a dream team of Vijay and Prabhu Deva, who is
directing a Tamil film for the first time.
Apparently, Ileana, the female lead in the original, has become huge in Andhra Pradesh after Pokiri. The film is still running here. Are you not worried about the comparison?
I have no such qualms.
You must have been a schoolgirl when Prabhu Deva became a national
phenomenon. What do you remember about him?
I grew up watching him dance. In school, we were crazy about his dancing and
his super-flexible body. I like his choreography. I have a DVD of the song
he directed and won a National Award for -- Ennavalae in Minsara Kanavu. I
have seen the Telugu films he has directed. I feel it is an honour to be
working under him. It is a great opportunity.
