7.TOKYO STORY (1953)

In a purely populist list of Hollywood popcorn, it's great to see Yasujiro Ozu's masterpiece, Tokyo Monogatari.

Starring Chishu Ryu, Chieko Higashimaya and Setsuko Hara, the Japanese film is about an aged couple visiting their children in Tokyo.

A magnificent portrayal of indifference and disillusionment.

Kyoko: Isn't life disappointing?
Noriko: [smiles] Yes, it is.
