Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
She has postponed the 20-date Australian leg of her world tour, scheduled to begin in Sydney on Thursday.
'Hopefully all will work out fine and I'll be back with you all again soon,' BBC quoted the singer as saying in a statement to the press.
Frontier Touring, the company organising Kylie's tour, said, 'Whilst at home in Melbourne with her family this week, Kylie was diagnosed with early (stage) breast cancer. She will undergo immediate treatment and consequently her Australian tour will not be able to proceed as planned.'
Kylie, who turns 37 on May 28, said, 'I was so looking forward to bringing the Showgirl tour to Australian audiences, and am sorry to have to disappoint my fans.'
Kylie began acting in television when she was 11 years old. When she was 17, she began a full-time career as a television actress, and became quite a star in Australia. She won kudos as a singer when in 1987, her cover of a 1960s Little Eva hit, Locomotion, took the charts by storm. She is huge in Europe and Australia, where her photograph on the cover often makes magazine sales soar.
Kylie has also scorched the big screen with roles in a number of films, such as the forgettable Jean Claude Van Damme starrer, Streetfighter.
Kylie's Showgirl tour has been running to packed grounds around the world ever since it began in Glasgow this March.
