Devika MathurVery accustomed to wowing audiences on radio in Mumbai, Devika Mathur has done it again. In the wee hours of this morning (9pm, Canadian EST) Devika performed on Canada's CTV on the third edition of Canadian Idol. Devika is one of the top 32 contestants. Whether she reaches the top 10 will be announced on live television same time Thursday.

If the judges' reactions are anything to go by, she has already made it there.

A confident Devika sang a minute-and-a-half rendition of Mariah Carey's Hero. Dressed in a yellow poncho and blue jeans, her performance was greeted with wild cheers from the audience as well as lavish praise from the judges -- Farley Flex, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan and Zack Werner.

Here are their comments: 'You look ridiculously amazing, you have a great presence, and a wonderful star power about you... and you sing in a mature stylish way, you might have some power missing around the edges, but for my money, you're the best that we have here for now.'

'I think in all the times we've heard you sing, that's the best by far you've ever performed and thank you very much.'

'There's this serenity you bring, you exude it and it's so comforting and you look so professional and wonderful and your cultural presence and I could go on and on till the break of dawn about you. Very well done.'

'And it's unanimous across the board. Devika, the number one choice of the judges for the evening, that was fabulous!'

If the judges' sentiments are echoed by the millions in Canada who vote through a toll free number, Devika will enter the top ten bracket when the results are announced on the next show.

Speaking exclusively to Rediff Radio before the show last evening, Devika said, "I've seen the other two groups perform and I believe that performance-wise, energy-wise, positivity-wise and even unity-wise, we are the best group so far. And I say that very proudly."
