Ravi, 24, had the perfect launch. His father, editor Mohan, decided to produce a film for his younger son and gave the megaphone to his elder son, Raja. Mohan also chose a very successful Telugu film to remake. The result was Jeyam.

Jeyam was a huge box-office success but Ravi, who came to be known as 'Jeyam' Ravi, did not sign any offers from outside banners. He went through several scripts and finally decided on the same family team to produce and direct his next project. Another remake of a Telugu film.

M Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmi, starring Ravi as the son of the glamorous Nadia Moidu, was also a huge hit. Ravi's long wait had paid off.

Now, for the first time, he has signed an outside banner, K Balachander's Kavithalaya.
