Subhash Ghai, who cast Amrish Puri in every one of his films, said, "He was very good with relationships. Everybody loved him. His role in Pardes and the song I Love My India was very impressive."
Added Yash Chopra, "He was a very good actor and human being. His role in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was different from his other roles."
