Abhijeet's grandmother Rukmini Pandurang Sawant telss rediff.com: "I can't believe the boy to whom I sang lullabies has become a big singer! My husband Pandurang Sawant used to sing bhajans in our village, Devgarh. Now, my grandson is singing for the entire nation!"

"In Devgarh," she adds, "we don't have cable television. So I came to Mumbai to watch Abhijeet on television! I will also learn to send SMS messages. I want him to win!"

Abhijeet's father Sridhar Sawant is not home. The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation official is still at work.

"He became the nation's heart-throb when he sang Tadap tadap from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. His style of singing sets him apart from the other contestants. I get gooseflesh when he sings that song! He is good in all genres. He sings

serious and fast songs very well. He is very versatile," says Mahendra Pai, Abhijeet's childhood friend.

Some visitors join the family.

Says Deepak Chandrakant Kharatmal, a resident of New Municipal Chawl, Dharavi, "I stay nearby. One of my friends told me Abhijeet stays in Sahu Nagar. I was so happy to hear this. I feel elated to know that a boy from my neighbourhood has reached the Indian Idol final! I have always voted for him though I did not know he was living here. I am sure he will become the Indian Idol. I am telling all my friends to make Abhijeet the Indian Idol."

Exclaims Shekhar Nana Shinde, another visitor staying at Shankar Kawde Chawl, Dharavi, "I could not believe that Abhijeet lives in Dharavi. After I came to know this, I have put up a notice board in Dhigla, where I stay, asking people to send SMS messages for Abhijeet so that he can become the Indian Idol. He has made all of us very proud."
