Nana Patekar says, "Apaharan is an incident in the form of a story. It is a comment on what is happening politically all over India. It is not a real life story, but it will look like (one). There are so many politicians who are involved in some crime or the other and that is what makes Apaharan a relevant story.

"The whole idea of the film is to show how kidnapping has become a business. It is about how we live in this kind of an environment. Every character in the film has all kind of shades and that's we humans are in real life," he adds.

Jha says, "Apaharan is a film about the ill effects of kidnapping on the entire society."

Jha says the film is the story of a tumultuous and complex relationship between a father (Mohan Agashe) and son (Ajay Devgan), set against the backdrop of a thriving kidnapping industry in the Hindi heartland of Bihar. But he will dedicate the film to the Maharashtra town where it is being shot.

"I cannot explain how thankful I am to the people of Satara and how the entire city is helping me in every way -- be it in locations, technicians, manpower. It's been nine years since I have been shooting here and it is very convenient for my kind of films. I have a fixed budget and it always helps to involve the local people."
