Karan JoharEven as his new production Kaal, directed by Soham Shah, goes on the floors, Karan Johar has taken off to London for a month and half to work on his next directorial venture.

"My script just couldn't get written here. There are too many distractions and social commitments. Plus, there's my new chat show, Koffee With Karan [on Star World]. I couldn't write seriously in Mumbai."

The chat show, the promos of which are already on air, will feature interesting duos like Sanjay Leela Bhansali-Aishwarya Rai, Shabana Azmi-Shobha De and Gurinder Chadha-Farah Khan.

"It's meant to be a fun show, with lots of tongue-in-cheek comments. But no offence meant to anyone," Karan says.

Here's a sample of what the show has in store. In the rapid-fire round, Kareena Kapoor is asked who she thinks is a better director, Bhansali or Yash Chopra; Bhansali is asked who he thinks is the worst actor... and more!

Karan adds, "I enjoy hosting the show but I can't let my film suffer. I have to leave Mumbai if I want my script readied."

The new film will be about intimate human relationships and will star Shah Rukh Khan. Kajol had been approached for a key role, but since it would require a long overseas shooting stint, she begged off.

The yet-untitled film will also feature a younger male actor, in an important role.

Karan continues, "Though the cast will largely be without surprises, I'm definitely moving away from 'The Karan Johar style', whatever that may be. It's time for me to look at human relationships from another angle. I don't know where my creative urges will take me."
