I studied at St Joseph’s Convent and National College, Bandra. I haven’t given my graduation exam as yet.
I started out with a television serial, Hip Hip Hurray. Suchitra Pillai and Vinay Pathak were veejays then and were also working on the serial. They asked me to audition for Channel [V]. I got the job easily. I was 18 then.
I was never nervous. Actually, I was over-confident and that showed. The more you are in front of the camera, the more comfortable you get. You learn the tricks of the trade.
I quit Channel [V] at 21, in 2001.
I decided not to go back to television. Films were the only thing left. I got my first film Chupke Se because television gave me a lot of exposure.
Shona Urvashi [director of Chupke Se] saw me on television and approached me. Chupke Se did not do well. I was not in Mumbai when in released because I was shooting in London for Bride And Prejudice. But I got a lot of experience from that film.
But before I did Chupke Se, I did an acting course at the New York Film Academy. I wanted to sharpen my acting skills. After this, I got Bhoot and Darna Mana Hai.
