English productions are very organised and systematic. Time is used very well. Everyone is punctual.

Indian productions are getting that way nowadays too. I am really excited to have an international film so early in my career. Gurinder is happy with my work. I am happy with what I have done. Let us see who else is happy with it!

I always prepare for my roles. I read the dialogues way in advance. Then I analyse my character and write it down. I highlight all my scenes and dialogues in the script. Then I break it down to see how many scenes I have in the film. I take each scene and understand it well. So when I go on the sets, I know my scenes and dialogues really well.

This preparation is nothing compared to what some other actors in Bride And Prejudice did!

I believe I should really look like my character. I should not be like Peeya because that’s what I am in real life. In films, I get to play someone else. I get to be that many more people.

[Theatre personality] Alyque Padamsee once told me that the best part about an actor’s life is that he gets to be so many more people in his life, unlike others.

My roles have been very different so far. In Chupke Se, my first film, my character was like a chingari. Lakhi is very loud. In my next film, Ram Gopal Varma’s production Vaastu Shastra, I play a very quiet girl.
