Ash is very hard working, dedicated and disciplined. I observed her and all the other actors on the sets. Ash is so good with the camera.

Nadira Babbar is great with comic timing. You can just look and learn a lot from Anupam Kher.

The foreign actors have a different style of acting. Indian actors do what comes naturally. Foreign actors tend to go deeper. They ask questions like why does the character do what he does, what is his motive etc. They analyse the character much more.

I did not have many scenes with Martin Henderson -- just those in which the whole family was together. He is very chilled out and

relaxed. When he came to India, he travelled a lot. He even went to Kerala.

Daniel is very nice and easy to work with. He is a very intense actor. He’s a method actor. He is just starting his career in Hollywood. He’s very excited about his next film, Spider-Man 2, where he plays the villain.

My character Lakhi is the youngest in the Bakshi family. She’s a brat. She’s slightly westernised and thinks she’s cool. But she’s not! She’s very flirtatious and loves attention. She’s very loud and restless.

I tried out certain mannerisms that Lakhi would have had, certain ways that she would talk. I may have been like that when I was younger so I did use a bit of myself in the role.

Gurinder would always help out. She’s very relaxed but gets exactly what she wants from the cast. She kept everyone on the sets relaxed. Her husband Paul Mayeda Berges was also very nice. I learn a lot from Sarojji and Santosh [Sivan, cinematographer] too.

Gurinder Chadha, Martin Henderson and Aishwarya Rai share a joke.
