Mishra's first day of shooting was a scene with Naseer, Om Puri, Irrfan and him drinking. Om Puri predicts that Irrfan would rule Abbaji's empire in six months.

"I was extremely nervous on the first day. I kept telling Vishal that if anything goes wrong, sambhal lena [you take care of it]. I had to laugh very hard. After I did it, I asked Naseer if it was okay. He told me it was infectious.

"But I was always worried about the first shot. I would keep asking Naseer and Vishal if I was fine that day since that was my first scene. After the day, I became comfortable," Mishra narrates.

The actor claims that everyone complemented each other in the film. "No one tried to steal another actor's scene. The atmosphere was very charged on the sets."

Naseer and Om were his seniors at NSD. In fact, Mishra was part of Naseer's theatre group Motley for a while in 1989.
