The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry bestowed Living Legend awards on Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini, acknowledging their contribution to the Hindi film industry.
The awards were presented by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on March 15.
Bachchan is undoubtedly the most recognised face of the film industry globally and was among the first to pave the way for corporatisation of the industry, FICCI secretary general Amit Mitra said at the convention.
Hema Malini was given the award for transcending the limitation of being bracketed as just a film actress, he added.
Dilip Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Dev Anand and Asha Bhosle were the earlier recipients of the award.
