Did you know the head honchos at Marvel Comics were opposed to the idea of a superhero who crawled up walls and spun webs like a spider?

But the persistence of writer Stan Lee [extreme left] finally paid off and helped usher in Marvel's golden era. The rest, as they say, is history.

"In 1962, I probably didn't say it would be cool. I'm embarrassed to say this, but I probably said I thought it would be groovy," recalled Stan on eonline.com.

Filmmaker Sam Raimi [inset, left] is back at making what he loves best. In a chat with Newsweek, Raimi confesses that he always wanted to be Spider-Man. After helming two films about the friendly neighbour. What next? Another Spider-Man movie, of course!
