Guitar man

Born under the sign of Aries, Bilal Maqsood is the Quiet One. He is content to gaze dreamily, threading tunes on his guitar with slender fingers. At six feet, he stands about an inch taller than his bandmate. Even his voice is higher than Kapadia's deep bass.

Maqsood began playing the keyboards and composing music at 12. After the Strings quartet disbanded, he picked up the guitar. The band's music has a strong flavour of Irish pop-rockers U2, and Maqsood is clearly inspired by his guitar hero, The Edge.

"I grew up listening to all kinds of music," he says. "A lot of classical -- Abba ke paas bahut bada collection tha classical music ka. Hindi filmi music. Western classical. Eighties pop..."

Maqsood is married to Tina. They have two sons, Mikail and Khizar.
