Mallika is known to be very vocal about herself. But when her past was uncovered, she went strangely silent.

Mallika rode on the public's sympathy by announcing that she was a middle-class girl from Rohtak, a small town in Haryana, who had come to Mumbai to pursue her dreams.

She claimed that girls in her town were treated like cows and she had joined the film industry in defiance of her parents' wishes.

Only recently have reports emerged that Mallika, born Reema Lamba, is, in fact, a Delhi girl and belongs to an affluent family. What's more, these reports claim that the former airhostess was married to a Jet Airways pilot, Karan Singh Gill, and they are now divorced.

Mallika then went on to become a model and came to Mumbai to pursue an acting career.

For a woman claiming to be utterly frank about her life, such reports were a shocker. But what is even more shocking is her silence.
