1942-A Love Story

After the success of Tezaab and Mr India, Javedsaab penned the lyrics for Khel, Drohi and Gardish. Although he had a hit song like Idli doo, Subah aayi and Hum na samjhe respectively in each of these films, that much-needed breakthrough was missing.

It came to him in the form of 1942-A Love Story. Javedsaab’s charming use of similes in Ek ladki ko dekha was simple yet brilliant.

Silence spoke best in the delicate Kuch na kaho. The first throes of love were vividly expressed in Pyar hua chupke se. Determination was conveyed in the comforting words of Yeh safar bahut hai kathin.

Eternal favourites: Ek ladki, Pyar hua, Rooth na jaana, Kuch na kaho, Rimjhim rimjhim.
