If the look of the film is talked about today, it is because of the efforts of art director Prabhakaran M. He recreated two entire villages of Madurai in the heart of Chennai city.

The art director even dumped tonnes of red and black sand so that the top soil looked exactly like the Madurai villages. Thousands of villagers were brought to Chennai.
