Chameli was originally directly by Anant Balani. Unfortunately, the director succumbed to a heart attack on his way home from the film’s shooting on August 28, 2003.

The film was completed by Sudhir Mishra (Calcutta Mail). Mishra had earlier directed the acclaimed film Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, which also spanned a single night.

Chameli will release on January 9.
