Raveena Tandon

After a number of jhatak matak roles, Raveena Tandon went in for a change of image. She made her intentions of wanting to become an 'actor' clear. She did not want to be just a decorative doll in hardcore commercial films.

She signed Ghulam-e-Mustafa, for a small role as a naachnewali who falls in love with Nana Patekar. In most of the film, she was without makeup. Her small role -- her character gets killed mid-way -- was appreciated and the actress went on to sign more 'serious' films like Daman, Shool and Satta.
