Dev Anand:

Today, he does not know that we are mourning for him. I rarely break down but I broke down today. I was with him for the last three days. I broke down and cried when the press asked me to say something. All I could say was that my brother is no more. We all prayed for him. Maybe he is okay now.

The man who goes is okay but the people who are left behind mourn. God bless his soul. Chapters get closed and [new] chapters will start. This is what life is all about. Life goes on. Let us smile again and go back to work. Let's go.

Two weeks ago, I attended a function in my honour. He [Vijay Anand] told the audience about our last film together, Jaana Nahi Dil Se Door. That was his last film with me. He wanted to release that film in two months. We were looking forward to completing our film, but that didn't happen. It doesn't matter; the world will still remember him.

I don't know whether he brought out the best in me. That is for the world to say. I had to be a good actor to give something to the world, right? But he was a good director. He got his first break with Navketan. I understood him and he understood me. We were a great team. I felt relaxed with him.
