Kisna

Subhash Ghai's film is set in the India of the Tumultuous Thirties, when nationalists from across the country joined forces to compel the British to quit India. The film is a love-story set against this politically-rife backdrop, about a young, well-to-do youth, Kisna (Vivek Oberoi) shielding a friend, Katherine (Antonia Bernath), from enraged nationalists.

Katherine particularly invites their ire as she's the daughter of a ruthless British Collector. Kisna, gallant as most filmi youngbloods are, decides to escort Katherine to the safety of the British High Commission in New Delhi, where she can be corseted into safety and sent home by ship.

Not very surprisingly, the perilous journey plays host to a budding attraction between the two, and our hero is torn

between Love and Honour. Also muddying this issue is the fact that Kisna is engaged to be married with Laxmi (Isha Shravani).

Break out the violins and the shehnaais, this one's going to be long.

Pros: Thankfully, Ghai has just chosen a historic backdrop, and isn't making a love story pitting a Feroze Gandhi or a Sarojini Naidu.

Vivek's been acting well in recent times, and this film might be the really big break his career needs.

Cons: This is a Subhash Ghai film. And his last one was Yaadein.
