Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo

Lets get the buzz for this Anil Sharma film straight from the horse's mouth. Here's what Akshay Kumar told rediff.com in a recent interview:

"My next film will be Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo, where I play a prisoner of war trapped for three years in Pakistan. The best part is that it isn't another India vs Pakistan film. It's India and Pakistan versus terrorism! Pakistani soldiers help us so that the Amarnath Yatra goes off peacefully.

"You must remember an incident where the Pakistani and Indian Intelligence worked together to capture a few drug

dealers in Kashmir. We have expanded the same story idea and worked on it.

"I wouldn't act in any film nor do anything that'll hurt someone else's sentiments and affect our friendship with Pakistan. Manipulative politicians have divided the people of the countries.

"We should try not to ignite the problem, but instead concentrate on friendship. Based on that, I decided to work in this film."

Pros: Decent star-cast, with Akshay, Bobby Deol, and Amitabh Bachchan, all looking credible in the promos.

The fact that it's suddenly touted as a 'brotherhood' film makes sure that Anil Sharma's otherwise tiresome jingoism should be tamed down considerably.

Cons: Who in the world gives Bobby Deol a double role?

Also, in all likelihood, propaganda patriotism might be replaced by maudlin melodrama.
