Uday Chopra likes to play different characters.

After the loverboy routine in his debut film, Mohabbatein, he tried his hand at a bit of comedy in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai. Then came the action hero in Supari and the righteous cop in Charas.

With Dhoom, he returns to comedy and provides a light-hearted foil to Abhishek's brooding Jai. There seems to a be hint of deja vu here, what with Sholay having been re-released to a superlative response last Friday.

Coming back to Uday, the lad may have been born in one of Bollywood's first families -- what with Yash Chopra as dad, Aditya Chopra as brother and B R Chopra as uncle -- but he has a practical head on his shoulders.

In an earlier interview, Uday said the Chopras would not make 'Uday-centric' films because they would not work. Not yet, at least.

No wonder his films are multi-starrers.
