History would be made for everyone involved in the production, including composer and producer Andrew Lloyd Webber [extreme right] who, for the first time in his three decades in show business, worked with an outsider composer, said Rahman when people at large really begin appreciating the show.

The highlight of Bombay Dreams, apart from the Shakalaka baby number which got prolonged appaluse at the premiere, are several haunting, mellow and seductive numbers, like Journey home and How many stars.

Unlike other popular numbers in the show that were reworked from Rahman’s compositions in Hindi and Tamil films, these songs were created purely for the stage.

The number Hero, which Sweetie (the hijra who is in love with the lead character Aakash) and Priya (the idealistic movie director who loves Aakash too), sang also got a rapturous reception.
