Hum Tum seems to be heavily inspired by the Hollywood film When Harry Met Sally starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. Even Karan Kapoor's philosophy in life is similar to Harry's: men and women can never be friends.

The film also stars Rishi Kapoor, Rati Agnihotri, and Kirron Kher.

With Hum Tum, Yash Raj Films will start marketing its own music in overseas territories under the label Yash Raj Music.
