Nowadays, movies are made for specific audiences. Would you classify Meenaxi as an art film or would you call it commercial cinema?

Owais: I would just call it cinema. It is neither strongly art nor strongly commercial.

Look at the song, Chinnamma chilakamma. The very song is an 'item' number, but it is not shot as such. We brought in Remo [Fernandes] to give us the feel and energy of a Spanish bordello. When people see it on air now, they start wondering what a song like that is doing in a film like Meenaxi.

Similarly they are not too sure of whether this is an out and out commercial film.

There is a lot of hype associated with the project. This creates a curiosity abot the project. Yet, in a way, it is scary because I don't want people wondering, "Arre bhai what crap yaar! Where am I? Boss ghar chaltey hain," halfway through the film.

I would call it a film that is just there and a film you cannot deny!
