What about your relationship? Was there any strife during the creative process?

Owais: Look, I have never been in awe of Baba. We have always had a very normal relationship. He has always been my dad.

As far as the movie is concerned, well it was like my creativity and his creativity fighting to come out. We are, after all, different people. We cannot visualise the same way and we both wanted our points of view to be put across.

But at the scripting stage, I needed him to translate and help with the dialogues and the Hindustani aspect of things because I think in English.

M F Husain: For me, working with Owais was fine. Look I am not a director in the true sense of the word. I am more like the editor. I like to watch how things develop and then cut and use what I need for the film.

My forte is choosing the right person for the job and then leaving it to them.
