Daughter of well-known photographer Jagdish Mali, Antara was noticed in her fifth film, Company (2002), which was directed by Ram Gopal Varma. She had earlier done films like Satish Shah's Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge, Neeraj Vora's Khiladi 420, Varma's Telugu film Prema Katha and Hindi film Mast.

She has since been a fixture in Varma Corporations.

Antara was actually supposed to debut in Shabnam Kapoor's Dum Dum Diga but the project was shelved.

Road, opposite Vivek Oberoi, did not fare well, but Antara is back in Main Madhuri... in a hatke role.
