You will be honoured at the Marrakech Film Festival this year.
Yes. The Marrakech film festival is from October 2 to 9. Film personalities like [French actor] Alain Delon and [Hollywood director] Oliver Stone will also be honoured.

I have also been asked to select four of my favourite films from the entire gamut of Hindi cinema. So I sat down with some of my close friends and chose Guru Dutt's Kaagaz Ke Phool, Satyajit Ray's Jalsaghar, Govind Nihalani's Ardh Satya and Ram Gopal Varma's Satya.

Jalsaghar was Jaya's choice.

These films have really impressed me. The more contemporary commercial films have already been seen at festivals. Hence, these films.

There is a huge fan following for Hindi cinema in Morocco. I realised that when I was walking down Leicester Square, London, years ago. I had walked into a pizza parlour. There was a long queue and I was right at the back.

Suddenly, one of the staffers took me inside and sat me at a table. I soon realised the place was run by Moroccans and they all knew me.

Whenever I go to Paris, Cairo or London, I'm overwhelmed by the Moroccans' love for our cinema. Two years ago, the King of Morocco gave me the medal of honour.

Now, in 2004, the New York Film Museum at the Lincoln Centre wants to do a retrospective of 15 of my films.
