He calls it a wacky, tongue-in-cheek film.
Amitabh Bachchan talks about Boom, which releases Friday; working again with Zeenat Aman and with Hollywood pinup Bo Derek, besides his other films:
What is so special about Boom?
Boom is a spoof. It is a wacky, tongue-in-cheek film. We shot at Hotel Burj al-Arab, in Dubai. I don't know how [producer] Ayesha Shroff managed to get permission to shoot there.
I don't think there's a more opulent hotel in the world! It's unbelievable.
We even shot Bo Derek coming out of the water, just like in 10. My character loves that film because of that famous scene. I had to run after her just like Dudley Moore did in 10.
My co-star is Padma Lakshmi. It was also great teaming up with Zeenat Aman, who plays my secretary in the film.
Unfortunately, I had to take the producers to court recently. I hadn't been paid a substantial amount of money. I waited for a year because I sympathised with their financial problems.
Fortunately, they have agreed to pay my remuneration in two instalments, one before and one after the release.
