Namrata Shirodkar had starred in Mahesh Manjrekar's Astitva and held her own against scene-stealer Tabu as her daughter-in-law-to-be.

In Praan Jaye... she plays a struggling starlet.

Her career has not seen any hits, but Namrata has bagged some plum offers, including Gurinder Chadha's Bride And Prejudice, Shrey Srivastava's Insaaf and Mahesh Manjrekar's sequel to Astitva, tentatively entitled Shareer.

This film also sees Rinke Khanna as a heartbroken girl with a positive attitude to life; Sweta Menon, whose has a perpetually drunk house husband; and Sanjay Narvekar, who gets trapped in the underworld's net.
