Bollywood's evergreen hero was awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his outstanding contribution to cinema at the 50th National Film Awards ceremony in New Delhi.

Some of his memorable films include Baazi, C I D, Kala Bazaar, Guide and Jewel Thief.
