The Story
Evil stepsister (Mita Vashisht). Unsuspecting married couple whose weak relationship she rips asunder.
Next, we have drunk father (a swollen and haggard-looking Rishi Kapoor as Raj Khanna), a wild, rebellious daughter (Kajol as Sweety. By the way, her dress designer and make-up artist ought to be shot). A glamorous mother (Rati Agnihotri, in her comeback role), the sweet, tender, mild-mannered, well-behaved daughter (Kajol as Tina. Again, her dress designer needs to be shot) and her boyfriend, Sameer (Sunil Shetty).
Rebellious daughter runs away from home (to London, no less), meets sister and mom after series of incidents (which the makers might have thought funny, but which made me gag). Sis meets boyfriend, flies to India, meets alcoholic father, sets right his world.
Evil sis, her son (Mayur), her lover (Pramod Moutho) and hired temptress (Pooja Batra as 'Savitri' -- funny, anyone?) all receive their just desserts. After being at the receiving end -- quite literally -- of curd, dal, chicken manchurian and palak paneer.
Comments
Look, it's a bad film. It takes you and me for granted. Assumes that we will actually buy a ticket for fare like this.
For those of us who do, all that is offers is a jerky narrative, loud songs, bad cinematography, AWFUL direction. Nothing salvagable.
Sunil Shetty, though, should be given points for trying.
Oh, for those of you who have been wondering about Rati's comeback, well, she looks good. That's all.
