Sonali Kulkarni moves Mai Ambedkar to tears!

Jabbar Patel Making the first ever movie on Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, was a unique experience as well as a difficult task for its director, Jabbar Patel.

Since the issue was sensitive, the filming had to be done at the Babasaheb Ambedkar Samarak Samiti, Aurangabad.

"It is impossible to cover the multi-dimensional and multi-faceted life and works of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in a three hour movie", Patel said, adding that many incidents in the life of Dr Ambedkar were not touched for this very reason.

The film was shot in 80 locales, both in India and abroad.

He said utmost care was taken while selecting actors for the movie.

"In fact, Mai Ambedkar, wife of Dr Ambedkar, got very emotional when she saw Sonali Kulkarni portraying her character on screen."

Even thespian Dilip Kumar, who had been in touch with Dr Ambedkar when he was alive, was impressed by the movie.

About his next project, Dr Patel said he was planning to direct a light musical film in Hindi.
