'We wanted to help the earthquake victims'

Komal Nahta

Hrithik Roshan and father Raakesh handed over a cheque worth Rs 2.1 million to Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on February 1 in aid of the earthquake victims in Gujarat.

"Hrithik was to perform in a charity show for the Prime Minister's Relief Fund on February 3 in Delhi. Unfortunately, the show had to be postponed due to unavoidable circumstances," informs Raakesh Roshan.

He adds, "In any case, we wanted to help the earthquake victims in our individual capacity, too.

"While we know that money cannot wipe out the losses of so many lives, we hope and pray that our contribution helps remove some of the physical hardships faced by the victims."
