Saawan Kumar resigns from IMPAA committee

Politics is a dirty game, be it at the national level, state level or even within an organisation like the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association. Why do we say that? Read on, and you'll know...!
Elections for IMPPA's executive committee were held at ISKCON, Bombay, on September 22 and the Sunrise group headed by producer Saawan Kumar Tak defeated the one headed by Shakti Samanta. Or so it seemed for about 15 hours. The following day, though, when it was time to elect IMPPA's new president, Saawan Kumar lost to Shakti Samanta!
Now, for the behind the scenes scenario. What actually happened was that both groups had common candidates. These, as well as members who exclusively belonged to the Saawan Kumar group, ditched their leader and re-elected Samanta as the IMPPA president. Actress-producer Preeti Sapru and Marathi film actress-producer Sushama Shiromanee were elected senior vice president and vice president respectively.
A disgusted Tak, of course, promptly resigned from the committee.
