Ghai votes for Mohabbatein!

Komal Nahta

"I would be genuinely happy if Aditya Chopra's Mohabbatein proves a hit," declares Subhash Ghai. Subhash Ghai

The point that Ghai wants to make is that it is not marketing that makes a film.

Ghai refers to what he calls the 'thaila producers' -- those who send out thailas (bags) of gifts around as a marketing gimmick.

"These gifts are made only to lure gullible distributors into buying films," cries Ghai.

Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra neither indulged in this form of marketing nor resorted to, as he says, "crazy publicity campaigns like some producers who don't even spare dustbins on the streets to get their films' names painted on!"

"If Mohabbatein clicks, those producers who have strutted around far too long as marketing wizards will have to rethink their strategies. Although I love publicity, I don't approve of publicity for the sake of hoodwinking the distributors or the public," concludes Ghai.
