Komal Nahta

Interactive Television Pvt Ltd, a Delhi-based company involved in film-based marketing and cinema-related promotions, launched its computerised reservation system for booking movie tickets online on September 18.

The four-year-old company, spearheaded by Ajay Mehta, began operations at Woodlands cinema, Madras. Currently in its initial phase, the product is being tested at Woodlands, following which the service will be launched in at least 10 cinema halls each in New Delhi and Hyderabad.

The service will offer film buffs a unique opportunity to book tickets through the internet, the telephone or from customised kiosks placed at vantage points in their cities.

Meanwhile, ITV has already tied up with 50 movie theatres all over India to use the online ticketing system. Through Interactive Online Ticketing, ITV aims at bringing several benefits to the exhibitors.

Apart from a 20 per cent share of all ticket sales transacted through the service, the cinemas will be able to modernise their ticketing operations at a minimal cost.

ITV has also tied up with Skumars.com to exclusively distribute tickets through more than 50,000 kiosks across the country.
