Best cities in India to start a business; Delhi, Patna top

India’s Silicon Valley Bangalore turns out to be the worst place to start a business in India, according to World Bank survey. Countries financial capital Mumbai, too, does not feature in the top 10 list.

World bank has conducted survey across 17 cities to study where is it easy and tough to start a business. The survey identifies the bureaucratic and legal hurdles an entrepreneur must overcome to incorporate and register a new firm.

It examines the procedures, time and cost involved in launching a commercial or industrial firm with up to 50 employees and start-up capital of 10 times the economy's per-capita gross national income (GNI).

Let’s take a look at 17 cities and how easy or difficult it is to start a business in them.

Bangalore

Mumbai is the financial and commercial capital of the country. The city has the highest contribution to the country’s GDP and tax revenues.

Two biggest stock exchanges - Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange - are located here. It is headquarters to country’s biggest business houses such as Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Group, Godrej Group. Five of the Fortune 500 companies are based in Mumbai.

Chennai is one of the top 10 fastest growing cities in the world, according to Forbes magazine. It is ranked fourth in hosting the maximum number of Fortune 500 companies in India.
